The Health Collaborative began informally in 1997 when the healthcare organizations agreed to put aside their competitive business practices to conduct a comprehensive health needs assessment. The evolution in 2000 to an incorporated entity with a long-range strategic plan is in response to the founding members' interest in improving the health status of the community by working together. The result is a more robust, less duplicative, more synergistic approach to solving critical community health needs, while efficiently utilizing resources

Methodist Health Care Ministries
Methodist Healthcare MinistriesFor under-served residents in South Texas Methodist Healthcare Ministries (MHM) fills an important and underserved need. Since its inception in 1995 as a faith-based organization, MHM has invested a total of $54 million in our communities, making it the largest non-public source for community healthcare in San Antonio and south Texas.

San Antonio Children's Shelter
The mission of the Children's Shelter is to effect positive change in the lives of children. The Shelter has the state's third largest adoption program in Texas and a teen pregnancy program designated as a national model.

San Antonio Metropolitan Health District Healthy Start
Healthy Start is a program dedicated to reducing infant mortality. Launched in March 2002, the program assists pregnant women in getting the health care they need to have a healthy baby.

San Antonio Metropolitan Health District Project Worth
Project Worth works to help San Antonio youth make positive choices, avoid dangerous risks and postpone pregnancy. It is comprised of seven city departments.

San Antonio Southwest Mental Health Center
A not-for-profit children's hospital specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. The Center serves children between the ages of 3 and 17 through four carefully targeted treatment programs.

‘SMART START’ serves working parents by offering them its multifaceted programs and services throughout the business sector. Formally known as the Corporate Child Care Collaborative of San Antonio, we are united with our corporate partners to ensure that children are given every opportunity for success in school and in life.
United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County
The largest private health and human service organization in Bexar County, supporting 120 high-quality programs at 70 agencies.

A non-partisan, non-profit policy research organization committed to improving public policies and private practices that influence the economic and social prospects and conditions of individuals, families, and communities.

The ChildTrauma Academy is a not-for-profit organization based in Houston, Texas. The mission of the Academy is to help improve the lives of traumatized and maltreated children in three, primary ways: education, service delivery and program consultation.

A statewide non-profit organization serving as a catalyst for improvement in the health of Texans through education in health policy options and grassroots community-based health solutions.

Texas Foster Parents, Inc.
A nonprofit organization working in cooperation with public and private child welfare agencies to improve the Foster Care system of Texas.

Texas Office for the Prevention of Developmental Disabilities (TOPDD)
Formed in 1989 to coordinate activity among the many state and private agencies that work to prevent developmental disabilities. TOPDD’s mission is to minimize the economic and human losses in Texas caused by preventable disabilities.

Texas Public Policy Foundation
The Texas Public Policy Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, non-partisan research institute guided by the core principles of limited government, free enterprise, private property rights and individual responsibility. The Foundation's mission is to improve Texas government by generating academically sound research and data on state issues, and by recommending the findings to opinion leaders, policy makers, the media, and general public.

Alcoholics Anonymous
A fellowship of men and women who share their experiences with each other to help themselves and others to recover from alcoholism.

America's Children
An annual report produced and published by the Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics (the Forum). The report presents the most important indicators of the well-being of the nation's children, based on data currently available. The indicators are chosen through a careful examination of available data drawn from national surveys and vital records. The Forum works to develop priorities for collecting enhanced data on children and youth, and improve the reporting and dissemination of information on the status of children to the policy community and the general public.

The mission of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is to promote the interests of and provide the highest quality services for professionals in audiology, speech-language pathology, and speech and hearing science, and to advocate for people with communication disabilities.

March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that works to prevent birth defects and infant mortality.

NCCIC responds to requests from parents, child care providers and other early education professionals, researchers, policy-makers, national organizations, businesses, and the general public.

National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD)
Works to educate people on the potentially destructive effects of drug and alcohol and to remove the stigma for people suffering from addiction.

National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
Provides leadership in the national effort to reduce alcohol and drug abuse by supporting research and disseminating research results to the public.

National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Committed to raising public awareness about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

They are a national, nonprofit, multidisciplinary organization whose mission is to support the healthy development and well-being of infants, toddlers and their families. They advance their work by informing, educating and supporting adults who influence the lives of infants and toddlers.

The Voices Early Care & Education Task Force has been meeting with Council Members and their staff to urge a $1.5 million dollar investment in the professional development of our childcare teachers.

If you agree with the research, that well-trained teachers are the essential ingredient in a quality pre-school experience for kids, then please lend your voice to our effort!

If you can not make your district hearing, drop your council member a brief note or phone call.  Their email and number is also on the schedule!
